Boy Or Girl? It Doesn’t Matter
Not all people are able to find out the sex of their baby before baby arrives. Sometimes the baby hides! There are other people that do not want to know whether they will have a boy or a girl. The questions pour in though, from people either curious or wanting to buy a gift, about what they are having.
By selecting gender neutral items for your baby you will actually get a lot more use out of them. This is especially true if you are planning on more than one baby. The convertible crib natural is just more sensible than the one with pretty pink bows on it. The frilly stuff is great for things that can be changed quickly and inexpensively, like curtains.
Light browns and other earth tones can be very sweet for a baby nursery. By carefully selecting neutral colors your designer baby bedding you can make sure that it is worth every cent you pay for it. These are usually high quality and can survive baby after baby, but not if they are pink with lace.
It is easy to go overboard on the pink or blue for a new baby. While the shopping can be fun, the end result should never be a room that looks like it is being lit with a blue light. A room that looks like a bottle of allergy medication exploded is also not desirable. The baby’s room should not be nauseating.
By making sure that the major items are neutral, you can always accent afterwards with gender specific items. You can dress up the convertible crib with some pink or blue accents. Pink or blue ribbon is inexpensive, and easy to use for decorating.
Children are expensive. Buying things that are specifically from either a boy or a girl can double that expense. No matter what anyone says, it just does not feel right tucking a little baby boy into a bed designed to look like a pink castle. The same can be said of strapping a little baby girl in to a high chair decorated to look like a dump truck. Save yourself the headache and the money and keep things as neutral as possible.
If you have twins, one boy and one girl, this approach makes even more sense. They will likely share many items, and as they become more vocal you do not want to have to listen to fights over which booster seat belongs to whom. Taking the more practical approach will mean you can have a little more peace and quiet later on.
